Government to distribute rapid antigen test kits and KN95 masks to frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings, and waste management and recycling related trade personnel
******************************************************************************************
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (June 20) announced that, in response to the changes in the epidemic situation, the Government will distribute 3 million rapid antigen test (RAT) kits and 3 million KN95 masks to frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings, and waste management and recycling related trade personnel in support and recognition of their anti-epidemic work.

The EPD expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, the Hong Kong Association of Property Services Agents and the Hong Kong Property Services Alliance for their support in distributing around 2.5 million RAT kits and 2.5 million KN95 masks to frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings. Around 188 000 frontline workers will benefit.

In addition, the Government will also distribute around 500 000 RAT kits and 500 000 KN95 masks to waste management and recycling related trade personnel, including staff of landfill and refuse transfer station contractors, recycling trade practitioners, frontline employees of operators of waste-to-resources and waste-to-energy facilities (such as O·PARK1 and WEEE·PARK, as well as some 10 Recycling Stations and some 30 Recycling Stores under the Community Recycling Network GREEN@COMMUNITY). It is expected that around 13 000 frontline workers will benefit.

"Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, frontline cleaning workers and property management staff working in residential buildings, and waste management and recycling related trade personnel have been performing their work dutifully. The EPD thanked them for continuing to relentlessly support the anti-epidemic effort and provide service amid the epidemic. The epidemic situation remains volatile. Frontline personnel should heighten vigilance against the epidemic for the sake of themselves and others. To this end, the Government will fully support the provision of testing and anti-epidemic supplies for these frontline staff," the spokesman said.
