Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (with photos)
**************************************************************
The Hong Kong Police Force today (June 19) organised the Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (READ) at the Hong Kong Police College with the theme of “Their Call, Your Calling”. Participants were given opportunity to participate in various experimental activities to gain a better knowledge of the diversified police duties and foundation training programmes in Police College, so as to understand how Force members perform duties with the motto of “Serving Hong Kong”.

The event consisted of three thematic sessions: (1) Selection workshops for Probationary Inspector / Police Constable; (2) Police Unit Display / REC Talk / Sharing of Training Experience; and (3) Physical Fitness Test Workshop. Recruitment stations were set up to facilitate participants to submit application and undergo initial screening on the spot. The five “Recruitment Spokepersons” also participated in READ for the first time to share information about the recruitment process with visitors.

Participants attending the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) Workshops experienced the four fitness test items, including 800m run, 4x10m shuttle-run, vertical jump, and handgrip strength test. Participants, meanwhile, can take part in the Group interview (GI) for Recruit Police Constable after joining the Selection workshops. The successful results for both Physical Fitness Test and Group interview will be valid for three months.

Thematic talks on recruitment (REC Talk) were also held to allow participants to gain a better knowledge of the police work. To meet the needs and interests of participants, the topics were selected among those proposed by the participants during application period. In addition, several trainees and course instructors shared the training lives with visitors.

A range of police units, including the Railway Response Team, the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit, the Missing Person Unit, the Police Tactical Unit, the Police Dog Unit, and the Force Escort Group, exhibited their equipment and introduced their work and duties to visitors.

A total of 1,998 participants (resulting in 2,461 attendance) joined the Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day, among which 926 on-spot applications were received, comprising 155 for Probationary Inspector, 657 for Recruit Police Constable, and 114 for Police Constable (Auxiliary) posts. Among the 926 applications, 287 and 227 applicants took part in the trial-test mechanism of PFT and GI respectively. Applicants included students of local and overseas tertiary institutes and working people.
