S for IT pays home visits under Celebrations for All project in Southern District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Alfred Sit, paid home visits under the Celebrations for All project in Southern District today (June 16). Gift packs were distributed to elderly persons living alone and elderly doubleton households in the district to show care and love in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
 
     The home visits came after the launch ceremony of home visits under the Celebrations for All project in Southern District at Shek Pai Wan Estate. Mr Sit was accompanied by the District Officer (Southern), Mr Francis Cheng, and joined by the Chairman of the Hong Kong Southern District Community Association, Mr Chan Nam-po; the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR in Southern District, Mr Xue Bo-ran; the convenor of the Southern District Constructive Power, Mr Chu Lap-wai; and Southern District Council member Mr Jonathan Leung in visiting elderly persons living alone and elderly doubleton households at Pik Shan House in small groups to distribute gift packs to extend their warm regards.
 
     Expressing heartfelt thanks to all the organisations, groups and volunteers for pledging support for the Celebrations for All project, Mr Sit pointed out the importance of partnership with district organisations to demonstrate multipartite collaborations to care for the elderly and frail persons and foster unity, the spirit of mutual help and a caring and inclusive culture, as well as social cohesion in society.
 
     The Celebrations for All project is one of the major events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. With funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the project has been implemented by the 18 District Offices under the Home Affairs Department together with non-governmental organisations and community organisations in the districts to spread the joy of the anniversary to the underprivileged.
