Appointments to Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission

     The Government announced today (March 25) that the Chief Executive (CE) has appointed Mr Victor Dawes, SC, as a member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission (the Commission). The CE has also re-appointed Mr Justice Jeremy Poon Shiu-chor, Madam Justice Carlye Chu Fun-ling, Mrs Pamela Chan Wong Shui and Professor Liu Pak-wai as members of the Commission. 
 
     "The terms of office of the seven appointed members of the Commission are staggered to provide continuity. The term of the four re-appointed members are from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024. The appointment of Mr Dawes will start from April 1, 2022, and, same as the other two existing appointed members, end on June 30, 2023," a Government spokesman said.
 
     The functions of the Commission are to advise or make recommendations to the CE regarding the filling of vacancies in judicial offices, representations from a judicial officer concerning conditions of service referred to it by the CE, and any matter affecting judicial officers which may be prescribed or which the CE may refer to it.
