LegCo to consider proposed resolution under Public Finance Ordinance

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     ​The Legislative Council (LegCo) will conduct a remote meeting by videoconferencing on Wednesday (March 16) at 11am. During the meeting, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury will move a proposed resolution under the Public Finance Ordinance to seek the Council's approval to give for a sum not exceeding $270,480,543,000 to be charged on the general revenue for expenditure on the services of the Government in respect of the financial year commencing on April 1. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix.

     Meanwhile, the Employment (Amendment) Bill 2022 and the Revenue (Tax Concessions) Bill 2022 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bills will be adjourned.

     On Member's motion, Ms Priscilla Leung will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) (Amendment) Regulation 2022, the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) (Amendment) Regulation 2022, the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation and the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) (Amendment) Regulation 2022, laid on the table of the Council on February 16, to the meeting of April 6.

     The agenda of the above meeting can be obtained via the LegCo website (www.legco.gov.hk). Members of the public can watch or listen to the live stream of the meeting on the LegCo YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/legcogovhk). Members of the public can also access the relevant video footage on the LegCo YouTube channel after the meeting. Archive of the meeting with Putonghua, English and sign language interpretation will be uploaded to the LegCo website (www.legco.gov.hk) in due course.
