Assistant Clerical Officer and temporary worker in Registration and Electoral Office test preliminarily positive for COVID-19

     The Registration and Electoral Office (REO) today (February 20) learnt that one Assistant Clerical Officer had tested preliminarily  positive for COVID-19 and one temporary worker who had undergone a rapid test with a result being preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

      The two officers concerned work at the REO's office on 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong, The Assistant Clerical Officer last performed duties on February 17. The temporary worker, who last performed duties on February 18, worked at the counter behind a partition to keep an appropriate social distance from members of the public.  Both underwent temperature screening when attending work and their body temperature was normal.  They were wearing masks while on duty.

      Upon notification of the cases, the REO immediately arranged for the co-workers of the two staff members concerned to undergo COVID-19 testing, and thorough cleansing and disinfection of the premises concerned pursuant to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Health Protection.

      The reception counter of the REO office on 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wanchai, will suspend service from tomorrow (February 21) until further notice.
