Several SWD offices temporarily closed

     The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (February 20) said that several offices will be temporarily closed until further notice due to the occurrences of positive, preliminary positive and suspected cases of COVID-19 respectively. The details are set out as below:

Note 1: As the staff member concerned has contacted the staff members of the Ma On Shan Social Security Field Unit. The Ma On Shan Social Security Field Unit on 5/F, Shek Mun Estate Social Service Building, 18 On Muk Street, Shek Mun in Sha Tin will also be closed.
Note 2: The Kwai Chung (Central) Social Security Field Unit on the same floor will also be closed.
Note 3: The SWD offices on the same floor, including the Family and Child Protective Services Unit (Central Western, Southern and Islands), the Discharge Support Team Office of the Elderly Branch and the Regional Guardianship Office (Hong Kong Island), will also be closed.

     On the positive cases, the one found in the Family and Child Protective Services Unit (Tuen Mun) is related to a Ward Attendant, who last performed duties on February 15 while the other one found in Family and Child Protective Services Unit (Tsuen Wan/Kwai Tsing) is related to a Social Work Officer, who last performed duties on February 18.
 
     On the preliminary positive cases, the one found in the Sha Tin (North) Social Security Field Unit is related to a Clerical Assistant, who last performed duties on February 11. The one in the Quarry Bay Integrated Family Service Centre is related to an Assistant Clerical Officer, who last performed duties on February 17, while the other case found in the To Kwa Wan Social Security Field Unit is related to a Social Security Officer II, who last performed duties on February 16.
      
     They had been wearing masks when performing duties. Their body temperatures were normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
 
     A thorough cleaning and disinfection has been arranged at the premises concerned. All SWD staff of the same floor will undergo COVID-19 testing and work from home while waiting for the results. For enquiries, members of the public may call the following service units during office hours:

     During the pandemic, the department has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures, including measuring the body temperature of people entering the office and providing masks and other personal protective equipment for staff. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
