Two Hongkong Post staff members test preliminarily positive for COVID-19
************************************************************************
Hongkong Post said today (February 16) that a postal officer and a postman have tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

The postal officer works in Kwai Fong Post Office and last performed duties on February 10. He works at the counter behind a partition to keep an appropriate social distance from customers. The postman belongs to Kwai Chung Delivery Office (KWC/DO) and is responsible for delivery work in parts of Hing Shing Road, Wing Fong Road, Shing Fong Street and Hibiscus Park in Kwai Chung. He last performed duties on February 14. KWC/DO is not open to the public. The two staff members underwent temperature screening when attending work and their body temperature was normal. Both were wearing masks while on duty.

Upon notification of the cases today, Hongkong Post immediately arranged for all co-workers of the two staff members to undergo COVID-19 testing and thorough cleaning and disinfection of all the facilities and mail items of the premises pursuant to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH).

Kwai Fong Post Office will be closed from today to February 17. Members of the public can access postal services at Kwai Chung Post Office (G/F, Chau Kwai House, Kwai Chung Estate) or Kwai Shing Post Office (G/F, Block 7, Kwai Shing West Estate) nearby.

In respect of the case of KWC/DO, Hongkong Post has put up notices at the premises that the postman concerned had visited for delivery to notify the public of the situation. Mail delivery and iPostal Station services for the Kwai Chung district (including Kwai Chung, Lai King, Kwai Fong, Stonecutters Island and Ma Wan) will be delayed. Hongkong Post apologises for the inconvenience caused by the cases.

Separately, the General Post Office in Central is closed from today to February 17. Its Post Office Box Lobby has been reopened this afternoon after disinfection was completed. For enquiries, members of the public may call the Counter Services Hotline 2525 5856 during office hours.

Hongkong Post will continue to implement measures for social distancing and infection control at all postal facilities to safeguard the health of staff and the public, and maintain close liaison with the CHP of the DH. Staff members are also reminded to take note of their personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times, and are advised to seek medical advice immediately in case of feeling unwell.
