Two EDB officers test preliminarily positive for COVID-19
*********************************************************
A spokesman for the Education Bureau (EDB) said today (February 13) that two officers of the bureau had tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

The officers concerned work respectively on the 14th and 15th floor of Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, and do not have contact with members of the public in their daily work. The officers last returned to their offices on February 9 and 11 respectively. They wore a face mask when performing duties in the office and observed other disease prevention measures.

The EDB has been following up on the cases with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health and is waiting for further instructions from the CHP. The EDB will arrange a thorough cleaning and disinfection at the premises concerned and in the officers' vicinity, and will also advise all colleagues having contact with the officers concerned, or those who work in the vicinity of their workstations, to undergo testing for COVID-19 according to the guidelines of the CHP.

As the EDB offices on the 14th and 15th floor of Wu Chung House will be temporarily closed for cleaning and disinfection, members of the public may submit applications for "Registration Certificate for Kindergarten Admission" via the on-line system at https://eform.one.gov.hk/form/edb005/en/ or by mail. As for general enquiries, members of the public may call the EDB hotline (2891 0088) or email to the EDB (edbinfo@edb.gov.hk).

During the pandemic, the EDB has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures, including requesting staff to wear face masks when in contact with others and at public places. Cleaning and sterilising measures for the working environment have also been stepped up. The EDB has also reminded all staff to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant at all times. They should seek medical advice immediately if they feel unwell and inform the bureau accordingly.

The EDB will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP and co-operate with its quarantine work.
