Two Judiciary staff members test preliminarily positive for COVID-19

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary today (February 10) said that a Workman II responsible for backend support duties at the District Court and a Bailiff's Assistant of the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts have tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19. There is no impact on court operations and services.

     The Workman II of the District Court and the Bailiff's Assistant last performed duties on February 9 and February 4 respectively. Both of them have had no direct contact with the general public in their work. Both of them have been wearing masks and observing social distancing measures while performing work.
 
     The Judiciary has completed special cleaning and disinfection of the relevant offices and public areas, and arranged staff working in close vicinity of the above two staff members to take COVID-19 tests in batches.
 
     The Judiciary will liaise closely with the Centre for Health Protection on disease prevention measures and quarantine work. All staff have been reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell. 

     Details of confirmed or preliminary positive cases of COVID-19 involving staff working on Judiciary premises and court users who have stayed in the court areas for relatively long hours in the past 14 days will continue to be uploaded to the Judiciary website (www.judiciary.hk) for reference. 

     The Judiciary will continue to closely monitor the public health situation with a view to putting in place timely and appropriate measures. Court users should check the Judiciary website (www.judiciary.hk) for updated information.
