Latest operation arrangements for Community Vaccination Centres

A spokesman said, "Launched on February 26, the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme will have been in operation for 10 months by the end of this year. In view of the supply of vaccines and the demand for vaccination, the Government will adjust the mode of operation of the Vaccination Programme by gradually shifting the focus from providing vaccination services mainly through CVCs as in the past to a variety of vaccination venues including CVCs, Hospital COVID-19 Vaccination Stations (HCVSs), private clinics and the coming mobile vaccination station, etc."
The latest arrangements are as follows:
(1) The operation of 10 CVCs (Appendix I) will be extended to March 31, 2022. The three CVCs providing the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine are located at Java Road Sports Centre, Kwun Chung Sports Centre and Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre. The seven CVCs providing the Fosun/BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine are located at Sai Wan Ho Sports Centre, Hiu Kwong Street Sports Centre, Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre, Yuen Long Sports Centre, Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong, CUHK Medical Centre and Osman Ramju Sadick Memorial Sports Centre. As from 9am tomorrow (November 28), the online booking system (booking.covidvaccine.gov.hk) will gradually release the quota of the 10 CVCs as from January 1, 2022, for booking of the vaccination service;
(2) Eleven CVCs will be closed by the end of this year. They are the CVCs at Kowloon Bay Sports Centre, Tin Fai Road Sports Centre, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre, Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, Ho Man Tin Sports Centre, Boundary Street Sports Centre, Tseung Kwan O Sports Centre, Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre, Yau Oi Sports Centre, Tung Chung Community Hall and Choi Hung Road Badminton Centre;
(3) New HCVSs will be set up in Princess Margaret Hospital and Ruttonjee Hospital on December 10, bringing the number of HCVSs to 11 (Appendix II); and
(4) The designated clinics under the Hospital Authority (Appendix III) and private doctors or clinics enrolled in the Vaccination Programme will continue to provide the Sinovac vaccination service. The list of private doctors/clinics is available at the designated website of the Vaccination Programme (www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/en/VSS).
The spokesman said that members of the public who received their first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine earlier and need to receive vaccination again early next year can choose to receive the remaining dose(s) through appropriate vaccination channels including the CVCs that will have their operation extended or HCVSs.
No matter which vaccination channel they choose, eligible persons can receive vaccination free of charge.
"Although some CVCs will be closed by the end of the year, we will continue to provide vaccination services to members of the public through various vaccination channels. We will also continue to closely monitor and assess the service demand," the spokesman stressed.
The spokesman added that given the threat posed by mutant strains, persons who are eligible for receiving COVID-19 vaccination should get vaccinated as early as possible to protect themselves and to reduce their risk of falling seriously ill and death should they get infected.
Before making an appointment, members of the public should take note of a minimum interval of 14 days between COVID-19 vaccination and any other vaccination (including seasonal influenza vaccination).
