First automated parking system installed at short-term tenancy site for fee-paying public car park in Tsuen Wan to commence services tomorrow (with photos)

This project is one of the APS projects that the TD is actively taking forward to further increase the number of parking spaces and spatial efficiency. The tenancy with a fixed term of five years and thereafter monthly was awarded in December last year. The tenant has adopted six modules of a puzzle stacking system to provide 78 automated parking spaces out of a total of 245 parking spaces in the STT site.
In addition, the tender invitation for another STT of one lot of government land at Pak Shek Kok, Tai Po, which is designated for APS installation, has been completed. Tender assessment is in progress, and the system is expected to commence services by the end of next year.
The TD added that the Government will examine the feasibility of adopting an APS when inviting tenders for new STT car parks or carry out re-tendering for the existing STT car parks. By drawing on the experiences from the APS projects at Hoi Shing Road in Tsuen Wan and at Pak Shek Kok in Tai Po, the Government will have a better grasp of the factors affecting the feasibility of introducing an APS at different STT car parks such as financial viability, obstruction by underground utilities, and whether the sites will be taken back shortly for long-term development.
The Government will continue to take forward APS projects so as to consolidate experience in building, operating and managing different APS types and the associated financial arrangements. This will pave the way for wider APS application in public car parks in future.
