TAC visits first automated parking system taken forward by Government in Tsuen Wan (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Transport Advisory Committee:

The Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) today (November 23) visited the first automated parking system (APS) taken forward by the Government in a short-term tenancy (STT) car park at Hoi Shing Road in Tsuen Wan so as to better understand the operation of the APS.

Members were briefed by the Deputy Commissioner for Transport (Planning and Technical Services), Mr Tony Yau, on the operating principles and characteristics of the APS and viewed the demonstration. Part of the parking spaces of the STT car park are installed with the APS adopting a puzzle stacking system, which can increase the parking provision within the same footprint and bring parking convenience to drivers.

The TAC Chairman, Professor Stephen Cheung, said, "Members support the Transport and Housing Bureau and the Transport Department to take forward the APS as a means to increase the number of parking spaces and spatial efficiency. Members hope that the Government will continue to take forward the APS in STT car parks and public works projects."
