CE presents 2021 Policy Address information kits to primary and secondary schools (with photos/video)
******************************************************************************************
The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today (November 10) visited Sha Tin Government Secondary School to present 2021 Policy Address information kits to representatives of primary and secondary schools and take part in an exchange session with about 2 000 primary and secondary students in person and online on the 2021 Policy Address.

The 2021 Policy Address delivered by Mrs Lam early last month is the last Policy Address in her current term of office. Themed "Building a Bright Future Together", the Policy Address is rich in content and wide-ranging, mapping out the blueprint for Hong Kong's development. Mrs Lam specially arranged to present the Policy Address information kits, each with Chinese and English versions, to about 1 200 primary, secondary and special schools in Hong Kong to help students better understand the social and economic development of Hong Kong in the future. The information kit comprises the Policy Address, the Policy Address Supplement, the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy Report, Hong Kong 2030+: Towards a Planning Vision and Strategy Transcending 2030, Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050, factsheets on the eight international centres or hubs charted for Hong Kong's development in the nation's 14th Five-Year Plan, the legislative proposals for the seventh term of the Legislative Council and three related pamphlets. The Education Bureau will deliver the information kits to schools starting tomorrow (November 11).

Accompanied by the Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, and the Head of School of Sha Tin Government Secondary School, Ms Janice Lam, Mrs Lam introduced the content of the 2021 Policy Address to about 90 students of Sha Tin Government Secondary School and Ma Tau Chung Government Primary School Hung Hom Bay at the venue and about 2 000 students from 30 government secondary schools and five government primary schools online, as well as listened to their views and addressed their questions. The response of the students was enthusiastic during the exchange session, which lasted more than an hour. Among the 16 students who spoke, many of them were interested in the development of the Northern Metropolis, while others provided views and raised questions on various areas ranging from land and housing, innovation and technology (I&T), reduction of carbon emissions, culture and arts to "One Country, Two Systems", Constitution and Basic Law education and national security.

Mrs Lam succinctly responded to the views and questions from students. She said that with the enactment and implementation of the National Security Law and the improvement of the electoral system of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, "One Country, Two Systems" is back on the right track, and that Hong Kong has ushered in a new era in which it is time to start anew and plan for the future. Noting that the Northern Metropolis is the highlight of the 2021 Policy Address and is crucial to the promotion of the I&T and modern service industries and will enhance the co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, she said that there will be plenty of job opportunities, providing unlimited room for development for young people. She also pointed out that Hong Kong is striving to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050 and will actively promote deep decarbonisation, and encouraged young people to participate in the related efforts.
