Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tau Kok

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sha Tau Kok last night (October 31) in which a 41-year-old man and a 20-year-old man died.

     At about 10.13pm, two private cars and one motorcycle, driven by the 20-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old man respectively, were travelling towards Luk Keng in sequence. When approaching near Fung Hang Family Walk, the private car driven by the 20-year-old man reportedly had a head-on collision with a private car driven by the 41-year-old man travelling in the opposite direction. The private car trailing behind driven by the 23-year-old man reportedly failed to brake in time, while the motorcycle reportedly lost control when swerving and sideturned.

     The 41-year-old driver was trapped inside the compartment before being rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, he was certified dead at scene. The 20-year-old driver and his 24-year-old female passenger aboard were also trapped inside the compartment before being rescued by firemen. Both sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and North District Hospital in unconscious state respectively. The 20-year-old driver was certified dead at 11.35pm.

     Other injured persons, including the 23-year-old private car driver, together with his 24-year-old female passenger and 25-year-old male passenger on board, and the motorcycle driver were all sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in conscious state.
           
     The 23-year-old private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
