TD reminds public to provide electronic contact means when submitting vehicle-related applications and apply for "vehicle tag" in advance from November 1
******************************************************************************************
The Free Flow Tolling System (FFTS) will be implemented at government tolled tunnels and the Tsing Sha Control Area by phases from the end of next year. Motorists can pay tunnel tolls via remote means using a "vehicle tag" without stopping or queueing at toll booths. The Transport Department (TD) today (October 20) reminded members of the public that to facilitate the implementation of the FFTS, with effect from November 1, registered vehicle owners and holders of movement permit/trade licences are required to provide either a Hong Kong mobile phone number or an email address as their electronic contact means when submitting vehicle-related applications to the TD's Licensing Offices so that the TD and the toll service provider (TSP) can issue electronic messages such as toll payment notifications, either by SMS or email, when necessary.

At the same time, registered vehicle owners can apply for a "vehicle tag" from the TSP in advance when submitting vehicle-related applications for paying tunnel tolls when the FFTS is implemented. It is expected that the TSP will send the "vehicle tag" by post to registered vehicle owners who have applied for the tag from mid-2022. Details of the distribution arrangements and the user's guide of the "vehicle tag" will be announced in due course.

The new versions of vehicle-related application forms are available at the four Licensing Offices of the TD, the Home Affairs Enquiry Centres and post offices in various districts. Registered vehicle owners and holders of movement permit/trade licences may also download the forms at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).

In case of a change to the electronic contact means, please inform the TD within 72 hours of the change in writing, by submitting the completed TD form TD559 or using the online services in GovHK.

For enquiries related to the FFTS or the application for a "vehicle tag", please visit www.ffts.hk, or call 2804 2600.
