Home Affairs Bureau partners with HK Cyberport to launch Youth Start-up Internship Programme
******************************************************************************************
The Home Affairs Bureau has partnered with the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport) to launch the new "Youth Start-up Internship Programme" (YSIP) today (September 29) on a pilot basis, with a view to providing young people with internship opportunities at Cyberport's affiliated start-ups.

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Caspar Tsui, said, "The Government has been encouraging and supporting Hong Kong young people to explore and grasp various opportunities, including entrepreneurship, to unleash their potential. The YSIP targets to offer no fewer than 100 internship placements at start-ups, with a view to enabling young people to gain first-hand knowledge about the operation as well as the ecosystem of start-ups in Hong Kong, and assisting them to consider whether to pursue entrepreneurship in the future. In addition, the YSIP aims at helping corporates nurture talents and drive the development of the local innovation and technology industry as well as related industries."

The YSIP targets to offer no fewer than 100 internship placements, including 30 placements during the initial phase across various disciplines, such as data analysis, programming, corporate governance, marketing, design and digital marketing. Interns should be local post-secondary students holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card. Participating companies may engage interns on a full-time, part-time or mixed basis. The internship period lasts for three months, and the Government will provide a salary subsidy. Apart from internship placements, Cyberport will also arrange a series of training and entrepreneurship activities for the interns. The pilot programme is expected to conclude by March 2022.

Details of the YSIP and information about the placements offered during the initial phase are now available on the YSIP's dedicated webpage (italent.cyberport.hk/career-development/YSIP). Interested young people should submit applications to companies through the electronic job portal on the above webpage. Upon receipt of applications, participating companies will be responsible for the assessment and selection of applicants, as well as the implementation of the internship arrangements.
