CEDB responds to media enquiries on quarantine exemption
********************************************************
In response to media enquiries on the quarantine exemption of overseas film personnel undertaking location filming in Hong Kong, a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) said the following:

"Pursuant to the prevailing Compulsory Quarantine of Persons Arriving at Hong Kong from Foreign Places Regulation (Cap. 599E), the case in discussion has been granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption for the purpose of performing designated professional work, taking into account that it is conducive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong's economy.

"Under the quarantine exemption mechanism of Cap. 599E, government bureaux/departments may submit cases for the Chief Secretary for Administration's consideration, taking into account the advice of the health authorities and the public health situation at the time.

"Personnel granted such an exemption must comply with designated disease prevention measures and other conditions to minimise any transmission risk and contact with the public, including but not limited to vaccinations prior to arrival, a designated place of stay, testing and securing negative COVID-19 results on arrival and at intervals in line with the prevailing requirement of the Department of Health (no less than three tests during the first 14 days), pre-determined work-related itineraries (e.g. filming, costume fitting, rehearsals and business meetings), point-to-point transportation and prohibition of using public transport, etc.

"In addition to the above, the CEDB has carried out and will conduct checks, verification and monitoring to ensure compliance. No breach of the exemption conditions by the personnel concerned has been identified so far.

"We are not in a position to disclose details of each approved case."
