ExCo Non-official Members congratulate Lee Wai-sze on winning bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics for Hong Kong

     The Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo Non-official Members) today (August 8) extended their warmest congratulations to Hong Kong cycling athlete Lee Wai-sze on winning a bronze medal in the Women's Sprint event (Track Cycling) at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for Hong Kong. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to her coach and the cycling team.

    The Convenor of the ExCo Non-official Members, Mr Bernard Chan, said, "After years of training and overcoming her injuries, Lee Wai-sze returned once again to the Olympics Games. She remained focused and determined despite adversity. With her great perseverance and outstanding strength, Lee Wai-sze stayed ahead of other competitors from all around the world and captured the bronze medal in the event, fully demonstrating the can-do spirit of Hong Kong athletes."

    "In winning the sixth medal for the Hong Kong, China Delegation at this Olympic Games, Lee Wai-sze brought glory for Hong Kong again after the medal won in the Women's Keirin event at the London 2012 Olympic Games and became the first Hong Kong athlete who has won medals at two Olympic Games. We are thrilled that the excellent results achieved by her and the cycling team is testimony to the capability of Hong Kong athletes and the input in sports development of Hong Kong."
