CE visits Lingnan University (with photos/video)
************************************************
The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today (July 30) visited Lingnan University (LU) to learn more about the university's promotion of the understanding and application of gerontechnology in society as well as creative digital media learning. She also met with the LU senior management to receive a briefing on the latest developments of the university.

Mrs Lam, accompanied by the President of LU, Professor Leonard Cheng, viewed gerontech products in relation to healthcare, dining, living and commuting at the LU Jockey Club Gerontech-X Lab and listened to the sharing of views by two elderly people. She also visited the Animation and Digital Arts Lab to learn about how it encourages and motivates students to make use of digital equipment for creative work. She then proceeded to view products developed under the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative, a campus-wide collaborative innovation and entrepreneurship platform, and received a briefing from the university team on how they motivate students and teaching staff to leverage technology and cross-sectoral collaboration to meet the needs of society, including through developing a reusable and transparent anti-COVID-19 face mask and a wheelchair handle sensoring system.

"LU has a long history with an emphasis on liberal arts education and whole-person development of students. I am pleased to note that LU attaches importance to the promotion of Chinese history and culture. The nation's 14th Five-Year Plan approved in March this year has mentioned, for the first time, the support for Hong Kong to develop as a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world. I believe that LU can leverage its own advantages to contribute to the promotion of cultural exchanges. I also encourage LU to seize the opportunities brought about by the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to advance the university's development and nurture more talents for the GBA," Mrs Lam said.
