Over 1 000 power company staff support outreach vaccination service (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Patrick Nip, and the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, today (June 25) visited the Castle Peak Power Station of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP). During the visit, they and the Managing Director of CLP Power, Mr T K Chiang,  jointly viewed the administering of the Sinovac vaccine to staff members of the company as arranged by the Government's outreach vaccination service. 

     In view of the enthusiastic response, the outreach service team is administering the Sinovac or BioNTech vaccines to staff members of CLP and their family members, starting last week, on four consecutive Fridays and a total of more than 1 100 people are expected to get vaccinated. When finished, it will be the largest number of people getting vaccinated in a company since the launch of the outreach vaccination service. 

     "The services provided by public utilities are closely related to people's daily lives. While providing round-the-clock services for the general public, employees of power companies often have to go to different places to carry out inspection and repair work. They also need to contact and communicate with different customers. Hence, it is very important for them to get vaccinated, not only to protect themselves and their families, but also to safeguard the health of their customers. I hope that more public utilities will support the vaccination programme and proactively encourage and arrange for their employees to get vaccinated," Mr Nip said. 

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, expressed gratitude to the public utility companies for their efforts in preventing and controlling the epidemic. He said, "Employees can protect themselves and their families by receiving COVID-19 vaccines. Such a move is also very important for the enterprises and organisations, and it can help safeguard the health of their employees and maintain normal business operations." Mr Wong called on enterprises and organisations concerned from various sectors and trades to encourage their employees to get vaccinated. 

     The Early Vaccination for All campaign is being launched to help build an immune barrier in Hong Kong as soon as possible by significantly raising the vaccination rate, thereby restoring normality to society sooner rather than later. 

     Should enterprises and organisations have a sufficient number of employees who would like to get vaccinated and a suitable venue with sufficient space, they can make use of the outreach vaccination service so that their employees can be vaccinated in a more convenient way. Enterprises and groups can call the hotline for the outreach vaccination service at 3904 1490 from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm, for arrangements. 

     There has been enthusiastic support for the outreach vaccination programme since it was launched by the Civil Service Bureau (CSB). The Bureau has provided the outreach vaccination service to the Hong Kong Sports Institute, global professional services enterprises, a property developer, a financial institution, the construction industry, a university and a district organisation. 

     Mr Nip expressed his gratitude to the medical team and administrative support staff of the Community Vaccination Centre at Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre for providing the outreach service today.
