LCSD to present clarinet recital by Linus Fung in May

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present a recital by talented local clarinettist Linus Fung in May to launch this year's "Our Music Talents" Series.
 
     Fung will collaborate with pianist Alexander Wong as well as string quartet members Patrick Yim, Sally Law, Chan Wai-bun and Wong Ka-lap to perform Poulenc's "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano", Denisov's "Sonata for Clarinet Solo", Penderecki's "3 Miniatures for Clarinet and Piano", Takashi Yoshimatsu's "4 Pieces in Bird Shape, Op. 18", Brahms' "Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115" and the world premiere of Galison Lau's "A Flash of Thought".
 
     Born and raised in Hong Kong, Linus Fung studied music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the UK's Royal Northern College of Music. He performs regularly as principal clarinet with the Ponte Orchestra of Hong Kong and has played with the Hong Kong Composers' Guild, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Opera Hong Kong. Fung has also performed in Shanghai, Seoul and Macao. In 2018, Fung founded the clarinet ensemble Reed A Bit, and he curates its programmes for community and family concerts. He is currently the internship clarinettist of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, and the clarinettist and curator of classical chamber group the TimeCrafters.
 
     "Clarinet Recital by Linus Fung" will be staged at 8pm on May 6 (Thursday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $150 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
