******************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesman for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following announcement today (December 10) regarding an administration staff tested preliminarily positive to COVID-19:

An administration staff of Patient Resources Centre (PRC) of TMH has onset of sore throat since December 8 and sought medical treatment from the staff clinic of Queen Mary Hospital yesterday. COVID-19 test was arranged and the preliminary result available last night was positive to COVID-19. The staff member is currently staying in the Community Treatment Facility of AsiaWorld-Expo with stable condition.

The staff member mainly worked in the office of the PRC. As the patients' activities were carried out via online platform during the epidemic, the staff concerned did not get into direct contact with patients. Seven staff members of the PRC were classified as close contacts. Besides, a service assistant, who was responsible for cleaning washrooms of the PRC had not worn protective gown and goggles when working, was also classified as close contact. All these staff needed to be quarantined for 14 days. TMH has arranged COVID-19 tests for the eight staff members, and their tests results are all negative.

Thorough cleansing and disinfection for the relevant office of the PRC has been conducted. Since most of the PRC staff needed to be quarantined, non-emergency service of the Centre will be suspended. The hospital will continue to communicate with the Centre for Health Protection about the latest situation.
