All post offices to distribute COVID-19 specimen collection packs from tomorrow
*******************************************************************************
Under the Government's Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance Programme, to assist individuals who perceive themselves as having a higher risk of exposure and who experience mild discomfort to undergo a COVID-19 test, the Hospital Authority (HA) provides specimen collection packs and collects specimens through its 47 general out-patient clinics (GOPCs). In order to facilitate individuals to obtain specimen collection packs, the Government will extend the distribution points for specimen collection packs to 121 post offices (except mobile post offices) starting from tomorrow (November 28).

Members of the public can visit the post offices during the respective office hours to collect specimen collection packs for free.  The specimen collection pack contains a deep throat saliva specimen collection bottle, plastic packaging bags and specimen collection guidelines. Only one pack will be distributed to each person while stocks last. Depending on the number allocated by the Government and the size of each post office, the number of specimen collection packs distributed by each post office each day will vary. Please browse the following webpage for details: www.hongkongpost.hk/en/about_us/network/SpecimenCollection/index.html.

The public should note that all post offices will not collect specimens. Participants can return the deep throat saliva specimen to the 47 GOPCs of the HA or 13 clinics of the Department of Health (DH) within the designated time. Details of the clinics and submission times are provided in the following website: www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/early-testing.html. Those who have a negative test result for COVID-19 will receive an SMS notification within three days after submitting the specimen. If the test result is positive, the DH will follow up immediately.
