HKETO Berlin introduces Hong Kong Laureate Forum and highlights study and research opportunities in Hong Kong (with photo)

Hong Kong is an international metropolis with a thriving economy and the perfect place for Hungarians to experience Asia and the unique East-meets-West culture. With English being one of the official languages, foreign students can settle down in the city in no time.
Among the many choices ahead for young Hungarians seeking international opportunities, the HKLF is a "world-class academic exchange event for young scientists to connect the current and next generations of leaders in scientific pursuits", Mr Li said. He encouraged the Hungarian audience to join some 20 Shaw Prize recipients and 200 young scientists from around the world by registering for the event. Registration is open until December 13.
"Hong Kong is the most densely packed place in the world in terms of top-class universities," Mr Li stated. Three of its higher education institutions are ranked among the world's top 100 universities and in Asia's top 10 based on the World University Rankings 2021 of Times Higher Education. Hong Kong benefits from its excellent institutions and study programmes in the English language, international standards in curriculum design, quality assurance, and academic freedom and institutional autonomy.
Mr Li said it is not by chance that Hong Kong has become a hub for education in Asia with excellent research opportunities. The Government has been promoting research and development as well as innovation and technology in the city. In the 2020-21 Budget, recurrent expenditure on education is HK$99.6 billion, accounting for 20.5 per cent of total government recurrent expenditure – the highest amount for any single policy area, he explained.
With scholarships that are open for Hungarians such as the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund, the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund and the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, there are many ways to seize the opportunity of studying or conducting research in Hong Kong. "Upon graduation, you can stay in Hong Kong for 12 months without a job offer or work in Hong Kong afterwards," Mr Li said on the way forward for students who have finished their degree in the city.
