"Univers/e" virtual reality exhibition to take audiences on space journeys (with photos)
****************************************************************************************
To mark the launch of several far-reaching space missions in 2020, the Hong Kong Space Museum will present the "Univers/e" virtual reality exhibition from November 6 to 16. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of space travel and explore the mysteries of the universe.

The exhibition features six virtual reality creations from France. In addition to the stunning visual effects provided by immersive technology, actual scientific data and information from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and various research institutions are utilised in creating realistic demonstrations of various facets of the universe. Audiences will feel as if they are being embraced by stars as they travel among remote planets to explore the wonders of space.

Alongside the exhibition, the Hong Kong Space Museum will hold an inaugural conference at the Lecture Hall on November 7 (Saturday), featuring prominent astrophysicists from France as speakers who will introduce in English through Zoom the latest advances and challenges in space research. The screening of a French documentary, "Cosmic Flows", will also take place on November 15 (Sunday) to help audience members understand more about the work of cosmologists.

The exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau. It is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau as a highlight programme of the fourth edition of the French digital arts festival Digital November.

Digital November has been jointly presented by the Institut Français and the French cultural network worldwide every November since 2017. Through a series of events such as shows, exhibitions and concerts, the festival aims at showcasing the diverse French digital culture to a global audience of all ages.
