Christmas Family Screen 2020 to offer all-ages festive event (with photos)

     "Christmas Family Screen 2020" will enhance this holiday season with seven amazing movies for all ages from December 18 to 27 at the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive, the Lecture Halls of the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum, and the Auditorium of the North District Town Hall. Presented by the Film Programmes Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the programme is one of the highlights of the "Cheers!" Series.
       
     In "All I Want for Christmas" (2018) Lucia wants to become Santa Claus, just like her father. But, according to the rules of the International Santa School, only boys are allowed to ride on sleighs and deliver gifts. Lucia must complete an almost impossible task assigned by the headmaster in order to prove herself.
 
     The animated "Bigfoot Family" (2020) follows Adam's father, who is the legendary Bigfoot wishing to save the earth from pollution. One day, Bigfoot mysteriously disappears after visiting a village under threat from the construction works of an oil company. To rescue his father, Adam conducts an investigation with his animal friends, setting off an exciting and hilarious adventure.
 
     Following a spaceship malfunction, Willy and his trusty robot assistant in "Terra Willy" (2019) evacuate to a beautiful planet where they make friends with the local creatures. However, danger is lurking in the dark corners of the planet.
 
     In "Hacker" (2019), after being told that his mother, thought to be deceased, is in fact still alive, young hacker Benjamin decides to start an investigation. He then discovers that there is a sinister plot afoot and everyone he knows is keeping their own secrets. The film won 1st Prize, Best Live-Action Feature (Children's Jury) at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival 2019.
 
     "Team Marco" (2019) depicts the title character making a bet with his grandpa to gain the freedom to play video games. Marco and his team will have to beat his grandpa's team in a game of bocce, but the match is stopped by an unexpected event. The film won the Audience Award in Family Film at the Mill Valley Film Festival 2019.
 
     Those with vivid imaginations should not miss the following two films. "THE LUNNIS and the Great Fairy Tale Adventures" (2019) features Mar, a fairy tale lover, who joins her puppet friends in the world of a magic book. There, she meets her favourite characters and destroys the evil scheme of a fantasy-hating millionaire. The film won Best Orchestral Music at the Spanish Audio-visual Awards 2019. In "Captain Bimse" (2019), Anna and teddy bear, Mr Johnson, climb into a small yellow plane that suddenly appears, taking them to a remote village to save a doll that Anna left behind.
 
     Experienced dubbing artists Yip Ka-man and Kinson Lai will perform live Cantonese dubbing for "THE LUNNIS and the Great Fairy Tale Adventures" and "Captain Bimse", which will also have English subtitles. The other films will have Chinese and English subtitles.
