SEN attends C40 Steering Committee meeting in Copenhagen (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, continued his visit in Copenhagen, Denmark yesterday (October 11, Copenhagen time).

     In the morning, he attended a plenary session of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) World Mayors Summit 2019 in which participants shared their insight on tackling the climate crisis in an inclusive manner, followed by a lunch with C40 Steering Committee members. Mr Wong participated in the Steering Committee meeting in the afternoon to exchange views with mayors and officials of other cities on their respective progress in recent climate actions.

     Afterwards, he met with the Global Ambassador of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, Mr Gregor Robertson, to discuss how to address critical data, innovation and technological gaps so that cities can take accelerated and more ambitious climate action. In the evening, he participated in the Sustainable Solutions Tour organised by Copenhagen to understand the city's future green development.

     Mr Wong will separately visit a smart city energy laboratory and a waste-to-energy facility in Copenhagen today (October 12, Copenhagen time).
