Updated traffic and public transport situation
As at 6.30am today, the latest public transport situation is as follows:
Some MTR stations are closed due to serious damages. Except the Airport Express Line, the train services will end at 6pm.
Details of the service arrangement are as follows:
Tsuen Wan Line: service temporarily suspended;
Ma On Shan Line: service temporarily suspended;
Disneyland Resort Line: service temporarily suspended;
Airport Express Line: trains will be running between Hong Kong, Kowloon and Tsing Yi stations from the start of service (non stop at AsiaWorld-Expo station) from the first departure. Starting from 1pm to the last departure, trains will be running between Airport and Hong Kong stations only. Trains will not stop at Kowloon, Tsing Yi and AsiaWorld-Expo stations;
The following train services are running at 8 minutes intervals.
Kwun Tong Line: Whampoa, Ho Man Tin, Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok, Prince Edward, Lok Fu, Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon Bay, Ngau Tau Kok, Kwun Tong and Tiu Keng Leng stations are closed;
Island Line: Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tin Hau and Fortress Hill stations are closed;
South Island Line: Admiralty Station is closed;
Tseung Kwan O Line: Tiu Keng Leng, Tseung Kwan O, Hang Hau, Po Lam and LOHAS Park stations are closed;
Tung Chung Line: Sunny Bay and Tung Chung stations are closed;
East Rail Line: Tai Wai, Sha Tin, Tai Po Market, Fanling and Sheung Shui stations are closed;
West Rail Line: East Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan West, Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun stations are closed; and
Light Rail: routes 705, 706, 751, 761P, 614, 615 are suspended, other routes 505, 507, 610, 614P and 615P are maintained in 15-16 minutes interval.
(II) Franchised bus
All franchised bus services remain normal.
(III) Ferry and Tramway
Ferry and Tramway services remain normal.
Meanwhile, over 100 sets of traffic lights that have been damaged or tampered with recently are located in Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, Tseung Kwan O, North District, Shatin, Lantau, Wan Chai, Central and Western District, Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong. The concerned departments are actively following up on the repair works.
As some of the traffic lights have yet to resume normal operation, motorists are advised to drive with utmost care and patience when passing through these junctions, pay extra attention to the traffic signs, particularly the safety of pedestrians crossing the roads.
Pedestrians are advised to use crossing aids nearby such as footbridges and pedestrian subways for crossing the roads. They should pay attention to vehicles when crossing junctions with damaged traffic lights.
The TD is closely monitoring the traffic conditions and is committed to maintain normal operation of traffic facilities.
