Music Delight concerts to offer diverse soundscapes in the coming months

Recognised as one of Russia's leading modern folk ensembles, Izumrud ("emerald" in Russian) is redefining the Russian folk scene through its fresh reinterpretations using a kaleidoscope of styles, genres, and melodies. The group offers a repertoire containing works from Bach, Handel, Saint-Saëns and Stravinsky, all the way up to Elvis Presley and the Beatles, as well as original compositions and other surprises.
Highlighting a troika of quintessentially Russian musical instruments (the babalaika, domra and accordion bayan), Izumrud has been featured in major venues across Europe and beyond, including a performance at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Their concert will take place at 8pm on November 15 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $120, $180 and $220.
Ensemble SU breaks boundaries by bringing music to life through the merging of Korean traditional and Western musical instruments. The ensemble has been touring the world since 2010, using their unique music to tell their stories, taking audiences on a journey through time and space as they entertain with a classical and modern music collage. The ensemble has been warmly received in Kyoto, Japan; Seattle and Washington in the United States; and Melbourne, Australia as well as at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the United Kingdom. The concert will be held at 8pm on December 6 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $120, $180 and $240.
Extraordinary strings will create a joyful crossover event in December, featuring Erhu player Xu Ke, known as the "Paganini of the Erhu world", and top-notch chamber musicians from Tokyo. The concert will feature the Tokyo String Quintet, consisting of members from the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be held at 8pm on December 14 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $120, $180 and $220.
In January, two local a cappella groups, VSing, awardee of the Gold Medal Prize at the Taiwan International Vocal Festival in 2018, and Boonfaysau, Champion of the Asian Cup A Cappella Competition at the 2018 Vocal Asia Festival, will join forces to showcase their talents. The two groups will perform Canto-pop classics, reinterpret popular Asian folk tunes, revisit and rework classic hits and perform K-pop. They will also offer mashups and medleys and perform original songs. The concert begins at 8pm on January 18 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets are priced at $120, $180 and $240.
