Christmas Family Screen 2019 to bring cinematic delights this festive season (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
Christmas Family Screen 2019 will offer six delightful films this holiday season that all generations are sure to love. The movies will be screened from December 14 to 29 at the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive, the Lecture Halls of the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum and the Auditorium of the North District Town Hall. Presented by the Film Programmes Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the programme is one of the highlights of the "Cheers!" Series.

The movies promise entertaining fare, such as "The Third Wish" (2017). In this film, Santa grants three wishes to Albert, his best friend Emam, and Johana, the girl who Albert is madly in love with. When Emam and Johana spend their wishes carelessly, they begin eyeing Albert's wish.

Lazy Frido in "Double Trouble and The Magical Mirror" (2019) brings a hard-working doppelganger to life through a magic mirror. When Frido thinks he can get rid of all his difficult assignments and exams forever, things turn out to be a nightmare.

"Ötzi and the Mystery of Time" (2018) tells of an unusual friendship between a teenager and a mummy that is more than 5 000 years old. In the film, the mummy teaches magic to his young friend that allows the teen to manipulate time. The film won Best Film of Gryphon Award (Elements +6) at the Giffoni Film Festival 2018.

"The Arctic Camels" (2019) follows a family living in the northernmost village in Norway, who keep two Bactrian camels as pets. They soon discover that training camels is no easy task and decide to mount an expedition to Mongolia to seek help from professional camel trainers.

In Norway's highest grossing animation "Louis & Luca - Mission to the Moon" (2018), Louis the magpie and Luca the hedgehog set off on a trip to the moon with their own spaceship, aiming to win an international race to Earth's satellite. Unfortunately, however, nothing seems to work out as planned.

Adapted from a famous novel with the same title, "Checkered Ninja" (2018) touches on topics rarely found in children's offerings, such as child labour and drugs. That the animated film handles such sensitive areas with hilarity made it a box office hit in Demark during its initial release. The film won Best Children/Youth Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Song at the Robert Awards 2019.

Experienced dubbing artists Pat Kwok and Kinson Lai will perform live Cantonese dubbing for "Double Trouble and The Magical Mirror" and "Louis & Luca - Mission to the Moon", which will also have English subtitles. "The Third Wish" is in Czech, "Ötzi and the Mystery of Time" and "Checkered Ninja" are in English, and "The Arctic Camels" is in Norwegian. The aforementioned films will have Chinese and English subtitles.
