Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok

At about 7.20pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 63-year-old man was travelling along Tai Kok Tsui Road southbound. When approaching Beech Street, it reportedly knocked down the 78-year-old woman.
The woman was trapped under the HGV and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious abdomen and leg injuries, the woman was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 7.59pm.
The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
