Civil Aid Service helps residents of lowland areas prepare for typhoon (with photos)
*************************************************************************************
In response to the risk of serious flooding in lowland areas as Super Typhoon Mangkhut approaches, Civil Aid Service (CAS) sent members to Lei Yue Mun and Tai O today (September 15) to help residents prepare for the storm at the request of Kwun Tong and Islands District Offices.

CAS sent 40 members to Tai O this morning. Together with the Islands District Office and other relevant departments, they appealed to the residents, especially those who live in stilt houses or areas affected by serious flooding in the past, to move to the temporary shelters as early as possible. CAS members also assisted the residents in moving their household furniture to higher points to mitigate the damage caused by flooding.

In addition, CAS worked with Kwun Tong District Office and sent 20 members at noon to join the Police to urge residents of Lei Yue Mun Village to move to the temporary shelter at Lei Yue Mun Sports Centre. CAS members also assisted the centre in providing support services.
