LegCo Members meet with members of Central and Western and North District Councils (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held separate meetings today (May 4) with members of the Central and Western District Council (DC) and the North DC at the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
 
     During the meeting with the Central and Western DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the development of Kennedy Town (including issues relating to the location of the bus terminus at Sai Ning Street and the redevelopment of Sai Wan Estate); development of Site 3 of the new Central Harbourfront (preservation of the General Post Office building in Central); environmental hygiene of the Central and Western District; street washing schedules of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department; and proposal on the distinction between the locations of parking spaces for private and commercial motorcycles. The meeting was convened by Mr Martin Liao and attended by Mr Abraham Shek, Mr Jeffrey Lam, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Charles Mok, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Poon Siu-ping, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Dr Junius Ho, Mr Shiu Ka-fai, Mr Cheung Kwok-kwan, Mr Lau Kwok-fan, Mr Jeremy Tam and Mr Tony Tse.
 
     As for the meeting with the North DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the expansion of the North District Hospital, provision of an additional general out-patient clinic and additional resources for different social services in the North District; request for improvement of recreation and sports facilities in the North District and early implementation of the New Territories East Cultural Centre; formulation of measures to thoroughly resolve traffic congestion problems in the North District; improvement of district facilities in the North District; as well as provision of a standard indoor heated swimming pool and community halls in Sheung Shui. The meeting was convened by Mr Chan Kin-por and attended by Mr Chan Hak-kan, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Mr Ip Kin-yuen, Dr Elizabeth Quat, Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Chu Hoi-dick, Mr Lam Cheuk-ting, Mr Holden Chow, Miss Yung Hoi-yan, Mr Chan Chun-ying, Mr Lau Kwok-fan and Mr Gary Fan.
