STH on occurrence at Shek Kong Stabling Sidings of XRL Hong Kong Section
************************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, at a media session on the occurrence at the Shek Kong Stabling Sidings of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link after attending a luncheon hosted by the Construction Industry Council today (April 13):

Reporter: Mr Chan, what are your comments on the preliminary report issued by MTRC? And do you think it's safe for the trial run to resume at this stage?

Secretary for Transport and Housing: As it was clearly explained in the report or the press releases by the Mass Transit Railway Corporation, the concerned railway (track) deviated from its path (original alignment) because its construction is being supported by the I-beams on-site, whereas for the other three railway tracks, they are basically built on top of the concrete plinth which is strong enough and are revalidated as in compliance with the standard and safety requirements. Therefore, to restart the trial run is considered reasonable.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
