****************************************************************
The “Hang Seng Bank – Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2018”, themed “Fight Crime Together For Tomorrow”, was launched today (March 22). The competition this year aims to convey the messages of anti-drugs, anti-cyber crime, anti-quick cash crime and anti-telephone deception.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung, said that the Police is committed to upholding the rule of law and maintaining law and order. It also places great emphasis on youth development. He hoped the young people would make use of their creativity in this competition to help the Police spread anti-crime messages to different sectors of the community.

Also officiating at the ceremony, the Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank, Ms Louisa Cheang, said that the bank is endeavoured to promote youth development and foster positive values among young people. The bank has been working closely with the Police to encourage young people to convey anti-crime messages through various platforms so as to raise the crime prevention awareness of the general public.

First introduced in 1975 by the Police Force, the biennial competition has been sponsored by the Hang Seng Bank since 1994. It sets its target on raising youngsters’ vigilance against juvenile crimes and encouraging their participation in the fight against youth crime with the Police. The last competition in 2016 attracted more than 330,000 participants.

The competition consists of four categories, namely Primary Group (Primary 4 – 6 students), Secondary Group (Form 1 – 6 students), Tertiary Group (full-time post-secondary students) and Open Group (young people aged below 25).

The competition includes a web game, a file jacket design competition and a “One-minute KOL” video script writing competition. The short-listed participants in video script writing will film their work for evaluation and winners will be awarded scholarship or book coupons. They will also be appointed as fight crime ambassadors to visit police departments and youth organisations overseas to exchange fight crime experience.

Entry forms are available at the Police Public Relations Branch, Police Community Relations Offices and Junior Police Call (JPC) clubhouses. The forms can also be downloaded from the JPC website. The deadline for applications is April 22.
