Chickenpox case in Tuen Mun Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following announcement today (March 22):
 
     TMH was notified by the Centre for Health Protection on March 20 that a man who had been confirmed positive for chickenpox visited the 5/F of TMH Ambulatory Care Centre in the afternoon on March 13 and 14. According to prevailing infection control guidelines, TMH has immediately started to follow up and trace the patients who visited the 5/F of the centre in the same periods. A total of 72 patients have been confirmed as having the potential risk of infection. TMH has started to contact the patients concerned to follow up on their health condition and to provide appropriate preventive treatment where necessary.
 
     Enhanced infection control measures have been adopted. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up. TMH will continue to monitor the situation. A hotline service 6468 0016 is set up for enquiry during office hours by concerned patients.
