**********************************************
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joshua Law, today (March 22) visited Wong Tai Sin District, where he called at an elderly services centre and a volunteer organisation. He also met with Wong Tai Sin District Council (WTSDC) members to learn more about the community's development and needs.

Accompanied by the Chairman of the WTSDC, Mr Li Tak-hong, and the District Officer (Wong Tai Sin), Ms Annie Kong, Mr Law first went to the Ho Fu Neighbourhood Centre for Senior Citizens (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) to find out about the facilities and services there. He was pleased to learn that the wide variety of activities provided by the centre has enriched the lives of elderly people in the district.

Mr Law then proceeded to VolTra, a charitable organisation dedicated to promoting local and international youth volunteer services, to see how it helps youngsters develop a sense of belonging and self-recognition. He also met with the staff of VolTra and young volunteers who spoke about their gains and experience from the volunteering services.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Law met with WTSDC members and exchanged views on issues of their concern.
