About 7 600 vacancies on offer at Mong Kok Job Expo

With the theme of "Building a Multi-culture Workplace", the Expo aims to provide a convenient platform to enhance the employment opportunities of job seekers, in particular the ethnic minorities, and promote their awareness of the Labour Department's employment services.
A total of 104 organisations will participate in the Expo. Forty-eight employers will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day. They mainly come from the catering, property management and retail industries, offering about 7 600 vacancies for job seekers of all cultural backgrounds.
In addition, eight training organisations will provide information on training courses to job seekers. Exhibition materials introducing the employment services of the department and some job advertisements with openings that may be suitable for ethnic minority job seekers will be displayed in a mini-exhibition. Simultaneous interpretation for Hindi, Urdu and Nepali speakers will also be provided.
The vacancies offered by participating employers cover a wide variety of positions such as English tutor, hotline support staff, costume assistant, aviation security officer, aeronautical engine repair trainee, front desk receptionist, shop assistant, clerk, security guard, driver, storekeeper, technician, cashier, barista, cook, waiter/waitress and others. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 74 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $17,000. Around 98 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Over 75 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services and make enquiries on the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme at the Labour Department's counter.
The Expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at MacPherson Stadium, 1/F, 38 Nelson Street, Mong Kok (MTR Mong Kok Station Exit E2). Admission is free.
