LegCo Subcommittee visits Hong Kong Children's Hospital (with photos)

The Legislative Council (LegCo) Subcommittee on Hospital Authority Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 1) Order 2018 conducted a site visit today (March 5) to the Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH) in the Kai Tak Development Area to view the latest progress of the development of HKCH. Members of the Panel on Health Services are also invited to join the site visit.
Accompanied by Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi, and Deputising Director (Cluster Services) of the Hospital Authority, Dr Tony Ko, Members first received a briefing on the latest progress of the development of HKCH by Cluster Chief Executive of Kowloon Central Cluster of the Hospital Authority, Dr Albert Lo, and Hospital Chief Executive, Dr Lee Tsz-leung. Members then visited the Specialist Out-patient Clinic, the Parents' Quarters, the Haematology & Oncology Ward, the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre and the Play Studio of HKCH to better understand the facilities and services to be provided by HKCH.
HKCH will serve as a tertiary specialist hospital for handling complex and rare paediatric cases which require multi-disciplinary management. HKCH will commence operation in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Hospital Authority Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 1) Order 2018, Ms Alice Mak; Subcommittee members Mr Chan Han-pan, Dr Kwok Ka-ki, Dr Fernando Cheung, Dr Helena Wong, Dr Chiang Lai-wan, Mr Ho Kai-ming and Dr Pierre Chan; and members of the Panel on Health Services Mr Paul Tse, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Dr Elizabeth Quat and Mr Shiu Ka-chun.
