Hospital Authority receives supplementary flu vaccines
******************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson today (February 2) gave an update on the Government Vaccination Programme (GVP) after the arrival of additional stock of seasonal influenza vaccines which had been ordered and arranged by the Department of Health. A total of 15 700 vaccines have been allocated to the HA, which started to dispatch them to its outpatient clinic network today to supplement the existing stockpile.

"Together with the existing stock, there are now around 28 000 flu vaccines available in our clinics to provide the vaccination service to eligible persons," the spokesperson added. Under the GVP, public hospitals and outpatient clinics have already arranged vaccination for more than 340 000 eligible persons since the commencement of the programme on October 25 last year.

The spokesperson reminded eligible persons (see Remarks) under the GVP to receive influenza vaccination at public general outpatient clinics (GOPCs) as soon as possible if they are still considering it. Members of the public were also reminded not to receive the vaccination if they have influenza symptoms, fever or severe illness. The vaccination is not suitable for anyone having the above symptoms. Members of the public are welcome to make enquiries via the HA hotline 2300 6555 during office hours or visit the HA website (www.ha.org.hk/goto/GVP201718/EN) for detailed information.
