Results of Strategic Public Policy Research Funding Scheme 2017-18 announced
****************************************************************************
The Central Policy Unit (CPU) announced today (February 1) the funding results of the Strategic Public Policy Research (SPPR) Funding Scheme 2017-18.

The SPPR Funding Scheme aims to facilitate longer-term public policy research on strategic themes and through which build research capacity and collaboration among institutions/think tanks on the themes. Applications are invited once a year. For 2017-18, the CPU received 19 applications. On the advice of the assessment panel, the CPU decided to fund three projects with a total funding of about $10.5 million.

Assessments on the SPPR Funding Scheme are conducted by an assessment panel comprising academics, taking into account the comments of reviewers who are academics and experts outside the panel. Each application is considered on its merits and contributions towards the making of strategic public policies. A declaration of interests system is in place to ensure that the assessments are fair and just.

Details of the funded projects have been uploaded to the CPU's website (www.cpu.gov.hk).
