Serious Incident Bulletin on runway incident on December 23, 2017, released

     The investigation team of the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) today (January 23) released Serious Incident Bulletin 1/2018 in relation to a runway incident that occurred on December 23, 2017, at Hong Kong International Airport, in which a Hong Kong Airlines Limited Airbus A330-343 aircraft (registration mark B-LNU) aborted takeoff on Runway 07R while a Cathay Pacific Airways Limited Boeing B747-867F aircraft (registration mark B-LJK) was crossing the same runway.

     A spokesperson for the CAD said that the bulletin contains information relating to the serious incident collected up to the time of issue, and must be regarded as tentative.

     "The investigation team will continue to collect and study all relevant information in order to determine the circumstances and causes of the serious incident. More in-depth investigation and analysis have to be conducted before any conclusion can be drawn," the spokesperson said.
