Principal postage revision to take effect on January 1

     Hongkong Post today (December 29) reminded the public that the revised principal postage rates, i.e. the postage rates for local mail (letters and packets), air mail (letters and packets), surface mail (letters and packets) and local parcels will take effect on January 1. Mailers are reminded that underpaid mail items will be subject to delay and a surcharge will be levied. Mail items left unclaimed by the sender or the addressee after 14 working days and with outstanding postage and surcharges will be destroyed.
 
     The Postage Rates and Services brochure has been updated for distribution at post offices from January 1. Details of the principal postage revision and the postage calculators as well as a "correct addressing" tool, which aim to help the public calculate the correct postage and check local addresses, are available at the Hongkong Post website (www.hongkongpost.hk) and the Hongkong Post mobile app.
 
     As January 1 is a public holiday, post offices will be closed on that day except the following:
 
Post Office Opening hours on January 1
General Post Office 9am to 5pm
Airport Post Office 8am to 5pm
Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office 9am to 1pm
Tsuen Wan Post Office
Sha Tin Central Post Office
Tuen Mun Central Post Office
 
     Customers may refer to the Hongkong Post website or call the Hongkong Post enquiry hotline at 2921 2222 for details of the holiday arrangements for post offices.
