Research Grants Council to present public lecture on creativity and innovation of technology on December 10

The Research Grants Council (RGC) will present its fourth public lecture this year under the theme "Creativity and Innovation of Technology" on December 10 (Sunday) at Hong Kong Central Library.
The RGC has invited Associate Professor of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Hong Kong, Dr Kelvin Yeung, and Associate Dean (External Affairs) of the Faculty of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Wong Kam-fai, to share their research findings and knowledge with the public. Details are as follows:

Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is commonly believed that a variety of supplements, such as calcium and magnesium, are able to help reinforce the health of bones. According to scientific annuals, magnesium can be beneficial to bone growth and plays a key role in bone remodelling and skeletal development. However, taking calcium supplements alone cannot improve the quality of bones. Dr Yeung will give a lecture titled "Will calcium supplement really rescue your bone quality?" to explain the related scientific mechanism and effects.
Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent (collectively known as BAT) are widely used Internet platforms today and provide search, e-commerce and social networking services. Professor Wong will deliver a talk on "Technologies behind the BAT", to introduce the basic technologies behind BAT including information retrieval, opinion mining and rumor detection.
