Local dance company R&T to perform tap and modern dance fusion in January
*************************************************************************
Local dance company R&T (Rhythm & Tempo) will stage its latest production, "Undestined Sail", in January, combining tap dance as the centrepiece with a fusion of modern dance and magic.

"Undestined Sail" starts with a warden who is escorting a group of convicts to a rural prison via ship. Their vessel capsizes in an unexpected storm – some are drowned, some drift to different corners of an uninhabited island. Each talented in their own way, the convicts try to find a way to freedom by various means. They become dependent on one another. A cat-and-mouse chase begins when some of them run into the warden. To survive, the convicts decide to form an alliance headed by the magician in the group. They look for resources and maps left by previous inhabitants of the island in hope of finding a way of escape. They are ready to sail away by sea, but a storm hits them again. The ending will catch everyone by surprise.

The production is supported by a strong team including Ken Kwok as choreographer. Ken is also one of the performers in collaboration with Lam Po, Chan Wing Yip and Lai Yee, as well as special guest performer Henry Harrius, an award winner of the World Championships of International Federation of Magic Societies 2015.

R&T (Rhythm & Tempo), founded in 2008, is an active professional tap dance group in Hong Kong. Under the leadership of Ken Kwok and Eve Leung, R&T has performed various stage productions, school tours, community promotions and workshops to promote and develop tap dance in Hong Kong, thus enhancing local audiences' understanding of tap dance.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Undestined Sail" will be staged at 8pm on January 12 and 13 (Friday and Saturday), and at 3pm on January 14 (Sunday), at the Theatre of the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre. Tickets priced at $160 and $200 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
