Animation exhibition, maritime week, art week and sand sculpture competition among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration (with photos)
An animation exhibition, a maritime week, an art festival and a sand sculpture competition will be held in the coming days as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Pixar Animation Studios is well known for its creativity and successfully combining art and technology to create original stories in the medium of computer animation. This year, Hong Kong Heritage Museum of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has collaborated with Pixar again to present "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship and Family", a special exhibition curated exclusively for Hong Kong.

The exhibition will feature a fine selection of artwork, including hand-drawn sketches, paintings, storyboards and sculptures, created by the artists at Pixar Animation Studios as they contributed to the development process for each film.

Together with the purposely produced videos of artists' interviews that give visitors a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how they came up with story ideas, the exhibition offers a rare and unique opportunity to understand the craftsmanship and creative process behind Pixar's films.

The exhibition will run from November 18 (Saturday) to March 5, 2018, at Thematic Galleries 1 and 2 (1/F) and the Hong Kong Toy Story Gallery (G/F) of Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin. The opening hours will be 10am to 6pm on Monday and Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 7pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, and 10am to 5pm on Christmas Eve and Chinese New Year’s Eve. It will be closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of Chinese New Year.

The admission fees are as follows:
  • Standard: $20; Group: $14; and Concessionary: $10
  • Free admission for Museum Pass holders

For details of the exhibition, please visit www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk or call 2180 8188.
