Updated version of "eTraffic News" mobile application launched
**************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) announced today (November 12) that an updated version of the "eTraffic News" mobile application has been launched with two new functions added, namely "Road Works Information" and "Traffic Snapshot", as well as expanded options under "User Settings".

Through the new function "Road Works Information", users can obtain information about planned road repair and maintenance works to be carried out by the Highways Department on roads with speed limits of 70 kilometres per hour or above, including locations, traffic lanes to be closed, types of works, works period and time, to help with advance planning of journeys.

The other new function, "Traffic Snapshot", enables users to view the latest traffic conditions of major roads in Hong Kong through selected snapshots provided by the CCTVs of the TD. The snapshots are updated at about two-minute intervals.

In addition, new options including adjustment of font size, selection of notification ringtones, and turning on or off vibration notification are provided under “User Settings” in the updated version.

The updated versions of "eTraffic News" for Android phones and iPhones are available for free downloading from Google Play and App Store respectively. For enquiries and comments on "eTraffic News", please call 1823 or send an email to the TD (tdenq@td.gov.hk).
