Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series 2017 to be held next Friday at Hong Kong Polytechnic University

     The Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series 2017 will be held next Friday (November 3) at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Three distinguished Chinese scientists have been invited to speak on their achievements and contributions in their respective fields and on the prospects for future technological development.
 
     Three lectures will be conducted from 2pm with the following details:
 
1. "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island and Tunnel Project Construction Practices" (in Putonghua)
Speaker: Mr Lin Ming (Project Director and Chief Engineer of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island and Tunnel Project)
Time: 2pm to 3.15pm
 
2. "From Chang'e Lunar Exploration to Non-Invasive Surgical Robot" (in Cantonese)
Speaker: Professor Yung Kai-leung (Associate Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Time: 3.15pm to 4.15pm
 
3. "The Development and Technical Characteristics of the Aircraft Carrier" (in Putonghua)
Speaker: Mr Wang Tao (Researcher of the China Ship Development and Design Center)
Time: 4.35pm to 5.35pm
 
     Professor Alexander Wai (Vice President (Research Development) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University) will be the moderator of the lectures.
 
     Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
     The lectures are jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, the China Association (HK) for Science and Society Ltd and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
 
     Since 2003, more than 60 eminent Chinese scientists have been invited to the Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series to give lectures on various topics, sharing the latest technological advancements with the public and encouraging young people to participate in scientific research.
