Hospital Authority announces senior appointments (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointments today (September 28).

     Dr Simon Tang Yiu-hang will be appointed as the Cluster Chief Executive (CCE) (New Territories West) and Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH).

     Dr Tang is an emergency physician by background and the Deputy HCE of TMH and the Chief of Service of the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments of TMH, Pok Oi Hospital and Tin Shui Wai Hospital (TSWH). As Deputy HCE, he has supported and assisted the CCE in a number of key cluster initiatives, inter alia the formulation of a Cluster Clinical Services Plan and overseeing the construction of the Operating Theatre Block Extension in TMH and the commissioning of the TSWH A&E service. Besides chairing the New Territories West Cluster Winter Surge Task Force to co-ordinate inter-departmental collaboration, he also served as the Chairman of the HA Central Co-ordinating Committee of A&E Service from 2011 to 2015 to co-ordinate and deliberate professional input to enhance A&E service quality and standards.

     Dr Tang has been seconded to the HA Head Office as Deputising Director (Quality and Safety) for six months since July 2017 to steer various projects and programmes of the Division. Dr Tang will succeed the current CCE (New Territories West), Dr Tony Ko Pat-sing, who will take up the post of Director (Cluster Services) at the Head Office on April 1, 2018.

     Dr Pang Fei-chau will take up the post of HCE of Tung Wah Hospital vice the retirement of Dr Cissy Yu, with effect from November 1 in addition to his current role as HCE of Grantham Hospital.

     The HA Chairman, Professor John Leong, and the HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin, congratulated Dr Tang and Dr Pang on their new appointments and wished them every success in their new roles.

     Professor Leong and Dr Leung also expressed appreciation for the contribution of Dr Cissy Yu and in particular her role as HCE of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Fung Yiu King Hospital and Tung Wah Hospital. They wished Dr Yu a happy retirement.
